Research proposal guidelines (Ph.D)
Ph.D research proposals should be written by the end of your first academic year and before the convening of the first adjunct committee meeting. Three weeks prior to the meeting, the research proposal will be sent out to all committee members and will serve as the basis for this meeting.
The following guidelines may be altered depending on the study conveyed. If necessary, additional chapters may be added to the proposal according to supervisor approval.
The cover page will contain:
- The name of the student and the supervisor
- The title in English and Hebrew and the date
- The supervisor signature
The research proposal will consist of several chapters, in the following order:
- Short abstract of 2-3 paragraphs
- An introduction that explains the background of the study and an overview of the relevant literature
- Hypothesis and research specific objectives
- Concise methodology
- Preliminary results supporting your research hypothesis
- Your research plan in successive or parallel stages
- List of references (bibliography)
- Timetable for your research
The research proposal will be written in English and should not exceed 15 pages (not including references).
After linguistic and scientific editing and the approval of your supervisor, the proposal should be sent via email to the department secretariat as a PDF file.
Please make sure you also send the Hebrew title for your proposal.
