We discovered flexible energy production programs that accompany Spalax tolerance to hypoxic stress and cancer. These programs are to a lesser extent oxygen- and glucose-dependent, and include glutamine anaplerosis and massive hexosamines flux strategies. Intensive investigations of the metabolic pathways are in the focus of our lab. Advanced biochemical, analytical, and cell biology tools are employed to uncover and characterize these adaptations.
