Moshe Inbar – Evolutionary ecology of gall forming aphids

Galls are abnormal plant organs that are induced by many organisms especially insects. The galls serve as “incubator” for the insects in which they gain better access to nutrients and protection from natural enemies and abiotic factors. Our aims are to understand the driving forces behind the evolution of gall traits and their adaptive value. We are also working on speciation process of gall-forming insects.
