We study oxidative- and genotoxic stress responses, DNA repair capacity in Spalax cells and tissues challenged by hypoxic stress as prerequisites for its longevity and stress tolerance. Cell- and molecular biology instruments, fluorescent microscopy and biochemical methods are applied to address these aspects.
